Tahir Raj Bhasin is an Indian actor, who works in Hindi films. Bhasin made his screen debut with Kismat Love Paisa Dilli (2012) and made brief appearances in Kai Po Che! (2013) and One by Two (2014). He made his official film debut with Mardaani (2014), which fetched him a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination and the Screen Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Tahir Raj Bhasin called Sushant Singh Rajput the most intelligent actor and commented on Shah Rukh Khan and Irrfan Khan’s acting.
Tahir Raj Bhasin on Irrfan Khan and Shah Rukh Khan
When said that his career journey is similar to Irrfan Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, Tahir Raj Bhasin said, “You’ve made quite a big comparison here, mentioning two legendary names, so thank you for that. Yes, I do admire both for amazing reasons. Irfan Khan, for instance, is someone I admire deeply because of his sheer passion. There are very few actors who can convey everything just with their eyes, and he was one of them. Even when he played an anti-hero or negative character in a film like Haasil, there was an understanding, a human connection that you could see. You’d think, “Oh, this is how his mind works; this is why he does what he does.”
The Mardaani actor added, “As for Shah Rukh Khan, well, of course, there’s the superstar status and everything he represents. But what stands out for me is the way he stylizes even the anti-heroes he plays, whether it’s in Baazigar or Darr. And then there’s his charm in movies like DDLJ. It’s that stylization that brings this aura of stardom around him. Ultimately, the goal has always been about good choices—entertainment with a little bit of style. And that’s why it’s a combination of both these amazing actors that I admire.”
Tahir Raj Bhasin on Sushant Singh Rajput
Speaking about the first time he met Sushant Singh Rajput, Tahir Raj Bhasin said, “I just remember him as being the most intelligent actor I’ve ever worked with. He was an engineer by education. I remember the first time I met him—he was writing down some metaphysical equation on paper. He was always reading, deeply invested in the character. More than focusing on his own wishlist, he was always very encouraging. He’d ask, ‘What are you working on? What are you reading? Make sure you do this.’ As a co-star who was more experienced and senior, he was incredibly encouraging and very motivational.”
